The Jordan Open Source Association (JOSA) is a Jordanian non-profit dedicated to promoting open technologies and defending the rights of technology users, particularly in the areas of digital safety, privacy, and open knowledge.

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Jordan, JOSA is developing a Toolkit/Guide to help CSOs and NGOs adopt open-source approaches to collect, manage, and analyze data in ways that are safe, accessible, and responsive to local needs.

JOSA seeks a freelance Graphic Designer to design the toolkit in Arabic and English.

 

Objective

The objective of this consultancy is to provide graphic design and layout services for the toolkit, ensuring that the final product is visually engaging and user-friendly.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

The Graphic Designer will work in:

  • Design and layout the Toolkit (approx. 4-6 pages in English and Arabic).
  • Design and layout 2 user guides (with screenshots and step-by-step instructions in English and Arabic).
  • Ensure bilingual formatting, including right-to-left (RTL) support for Arabic.
  • Integrate illustrations, icons, and infographics to explain technical concepts (e.g., data flow, encryption, offline data collection).
  • Format screenshots provided by JOSA into a consistent, professional style.
  • Propose and incorporate a visual theme that reflects the toolkit’s focus on civil society, digital safety, and open technologies.
  • Prepare print-ready and web-friendly versions of the final document (PDF, optimized for distribution).
  • Provide editable source files (InDesign, Illustrator, or equivalent).

 

Deliverables

  1. Toolkit/Guides Design Draft (in English and Arabic, for review).
  2. Final Designed Toolkit/Guides in:
    • Editable source files of all assets (Figma, Illustrator, or compatible)
    • Final delivery of assets in both high-resolution and web-optimized formats
  1. Graphics Pack (icons, illustrations, infographics used in the toolkit, delivered separately in PNG/SVG).

 

Timeline

  • Contract start: Immediately upon signing.
  • Draft design: Within 3 weeks of contract start.
  • Final deliverables: No later than November 16th 2025.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in graphic design and publication layout (portfolio required).
  • Proficiency in Scribus, Inkscape, or other desktop publishing / vector graphics tools (e.g. Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator).
  • Strong visual communication skills (icons, infographics, data visualization).
  • Familiarity with digital safety, open-source tools, or NGO publications is an advantage.
